It is with pride and joy that we announce our first Barbet puppy (Vasco Biscay's Bold Aquamarine) has graduated as a Certified Service Dog through the COPE Service Dogs organization. Vasco was accepted into the C.O.P.E. program early this year, participated in "Canines in the Classroom", lived with a puppy raiser family, worked and trained in other Service Dog facets, and graduated June 11, 2012. His life partner has been chosen, and he will begin an honourable life of service in June 2013.
To our knowledge, this is the first Barbet to be certified as a Service Dog in North America! C.O.P.E. service dogs increase the quality of life and independence of people with disabilities, help high school kids become leaders, overcome challenges and stay in school, and young children become motivated to read.
